Double Cleansing With Go
Before you Go-To Skincare and Zoe Foster Blake fans come at me, let me just say that I think Go-To Skincare has some amazing products Their fuss free skincare approach, skin friendly ingredients, matched with the adorable peach packaging has made them a cult favourite. I absolutely love their Face Hero oil, Im actually on my second bottle of it and it has done wonders for my skin. Their Very Useful Face Cream and Transformazing Sheet Mask have also earned their place in my skincare routine. So when I saw that they has released their latest product, Fancy Face, I was intrigued. But the product isnt quite what I expected and let me explain why
Why Do You Need A Cleansing Oil
No one needs anything, but cleansing oils are pretty great.
They work by attracting, binding to and then dissolving sebum, makeup particles, dirt and the natural oils on your skin. Put simply, oil likes oil. After massaging the cleansing oil into your skin, you simply wash it off, along with any gunk and grime.
Plus, unlike a foaming cleanser or some toners, cleansing oils can break down your makeup and moisturise your skin at the same time. Clever things.
A cleansing oil is also the first step of a face-washing technique called double cleansing, which involves, you guessed it, cleansing twice to properly remove makeup and debris from your day.
If youre someone who enjoys wearing a lot of makeup every day or uses a mineral zinc-based sunscreen, using a cleansing oil will help get everything off your face faster, and without irritating your skin. If you like/can be bothered, you can then do a second cleanse with a cream cleanser for a squeaky clean face that doesnt feel tight.

Better Oil Cleansers Out There
Nowadays there are so many amazing oil cleansers and Ive enjoyed using almost all the ones that I have tried. It really has only been Fancy Face that has been a little more disappointing to use. The ones I have used and really liked are: Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, Neutrogena Cleansing Oil, DHC Cleansing Oil and the MUJI Cleansing Oil. Fancy Face is described as a luxurious cleansing oil so I imagined it would feel like the Shu Uemura Cleanser. I dont know if you guys have tried the Shu one before. I was lucky enough to get a deluxe sample one time, and I remember it feeling sooooo damn silky on my face. It felt expensive ya feel? But if you cant afford the Shu one, MUJI is my usual go-to cleansing oil that I would recommend you get if you have a MUJI store in your city. Its like $20 for a 400ml bottle, so it lasts me ages. The MUJI one doesnt feel as silky as the Shu one but it does a way better job at removing makeup than Fancy Face. And if you dont have a MUJI store near you, then the Neutrogena or DHC cleansing oils are also really good alternatives that do an amazing job at removing your makeup without having to work so hard to get the oil to do its job. Do some research into cleansing balms as wellthe choices are endless
This is what Im using if Im not using the Go-To cleansers. These are way cheaper and just as effective, if not more so

Which Cleanser Is Right For Me
Cleansers are the first step in your beauty routine and using the right one for your skin is crucial to getting the results you want. While most cleansers may not transform your skin on their own, using the wrong cleanser can create new skin issues. Our cleansers are designed to go beyond the cleanse and treat your skin concerns.
Should You Be Double Cleansing

Yes.
Have you seen the pollution in the air lately particularly after the bushfire season we are currently experiencing? This smog can settle on your face and in your pores, creating a myriad of skin problems, including but not limited to blackheads, whiteheads and acne. More than that, oils and makeup can grab onto skin and not want to let go meaning, sometimes one cleanse isnt enough.
A double cleanse dissolves the thickest of makeup and grime while simultaneously hydrating skin. Win, win!

Heres What I Like About It
Fancy Face has some really amazing ingredients in it. The main ones being Camellia Oil, Sunflower Oil and Sweet Almond Oil. All of which work together to rejuvenate, nourish, soothe, replenish and soften the skin. After using it, I definitely feel like my skin feels nourished and taken care of. It doesnt strip the moisture out of my skin and my skin actually just feels really good so I love that. I follow up using the Properly Clean Foaming Cleanser which I also really like. I love the sweet scent and for a foaming cleanser, I was pleasantly surprised that it didnt dry out my skin. So all the nourishing work that Fancy Face did, Properly Clean just compliments it and doesnt undo all that good work. Its a fairly light weight oil as well, so if you hate that thick oily feeling then you might prefer Fancy Face
So Is Fancy Face Any Good
Hoo boy. I am a fan! By the time January hit, summer had really done a number on my skin. Id been applying and reapplying sunscreen over the break and as a result, my skin was dotted with blackheads and little bumps . I also had a few cute pimples brewing on my chin. Nothing that would stop traffic but still I would prefer not to have said blackheads, bumps and breakouts.
After a week of double cleansing using Fancy Face most nights, my skin was looking pretty good. After two weeks, she was glowing. I didnt bother with a double cleanse in the morning before bed is more than enough. As I write this, I have two moderate sized pimples brewing on my chin but overall, my skin is happy, healthy, bump-free and hydrated.
Consider me converted!

Go-To Fancy Face is a very lovely cleansing oil. Different to the brands first cleanser, mousse cleanser Properly Clean, this product is an oil cleanser, meaning it uses oil to grab onto all the gunk on your face.
The nourishing formula is made from camellia, sunflower, sweet almond, argan and passionfruit seed oils, vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Things you wont find in the bottle include silicone, parabens, PEGs, sulfates , GMOs, mineral oils, petrolatum, synthetic colours or fragrances, and the product is not tested on animals.
For $45, you get a 100ml bottle of the cleansing oil and one muslin face cloth. You can buy Fancy Face in Australia from the Go-To website and online at Mecca, or in-store at Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
How To Use A Cleansing Oil
If you are a person currently in possession of a face, you could really benefit from using Fancy Face. As a cleansing oil, the application process is a little different to your average gel or foam wash. It should be applied to dry skin. The bottle says to use 2-3 pumps but I prefer 4-5 to make sure my face is adequately covered in that sweet, sweet oil. Then, in gentle circular motions, rub-a-dub-dub for 30 seconds to dissolve all makeup and residual skincare. The product comes with a muslin cloth run it under warm water before using it to wipe your face completely clean.
After going through the motions for the first time, my skin felt pretty-bloody-good. While some people like that squeaky clean feeling, this is something I avoid. Fancy Face leaves skin feeling silky soft, not dry and tight.
Ideally, you want to use a cleansing oil as part of a two-step double cleanse routine. This is because Fancy Face leaves just a touch of residue behind. So next, I grab my regular face wash to do a second cleanse before drying with a regular towel. Voila!

How To Use Go
According to the brand, the best way to use the Fancy Face cleansing oil is at night. Apply three pumps of the stuff into dry hands and massage into your dry face in circular motions for at least 30 seconds. This is the bit that feels nice but also starts breaking down the gunk on your face.
You can then rinse the muslin cloth with warm water and use it to wipe your face clean, or you can just rinse the oil off with your hands before drying off with a towel.
