I picked up Septembers Marie Claire the other week and it came with this Murad Essential C Cleanser! Im always on the look out for a good cleanser so I was happy to give this a whirl and I must say the results are impressive!
The Murad Essential C Cleanser is gel based with these tiny orange micro beads which burst during use. It also has the most gorgeous citrus scent! .
To use I dampen my face with some water and squeeze a 10p sized blob into my palm and gently massage into my face. Depending on how much water is used it does lather up and becomes quite foamy, but I quite like that in a cleanser and feel like Ive cleaned my face properly.
What I love most about this cleanser is how refreshing my skin feels afterwards! It doesnt leave my face tight or dry, but instead its hydrating and moisturising and my complexion looks considerably brighter. Another good thing about this cleanser is that it removes all dirt and even waterproof makeup!
The full sized 200ml tube costs £34 but on the Murad website you can also purchase a 45ml tube for £10 . You can also purchase Murad products from which I had no idea about!
Overall this is a top notch facial cleanser and since Ive nearly come to the end of my sample, Im going to go ahead and buy the full sized!

Do Murad Products Work
One way to judge the efficacy of a product is to see what awards it has garnered. Murads Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment won a coveted Allure Best of Beauty award in 2018. Good Housekeeping has bestowed awards on Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel more than once. In 2016, a Good Housekeeping Laboratory test results noted that Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum firmed skin by 24% and reduced the appearance of fine lines. That same year Murads Invisible Face Protector, a clear sunscreen with an SPF 30, won a Breakthrough Beauty Award, also from Good Housekeeping. When the British edition of Good Housekeeping tested Murad Retinol Youth Renewal in 2018, it gave it a score of 80/100 and said that after 28 days, testers saw improvement in their skin and said it looked refreshed and that fine lines around the eyes and mouth were noticeably reduced. Other testers have said that the cream felt luxurious, was easily absorbed into the skin and had a pleasant but subtle smell. The media accolades go on and on- in 2015 Allure gave the Acne Body Wash a Best of Beauty award, while that same year, Shape magazine declared Invisible Face Protector its Best Sunscreen for Face.
My Verdict On Murad Essential C Cleanser:
This cleanser does everything a cleanser is supposed to do. Also, I dont find any active intriguing in a cleanser because itll hardly stay for 30 seconds before being washed off. This is only going to add up the price and the active wont be of much use . But Vitamin C in a cleanser does work in the long run. This mini tube lasted me a month and a half when used daily twice and I think it is decent enough. I felt my skin broke less, the texture seemed even and my skin looked radiant ever so slightly. I have acne prone skin and it didnt aggravate acne at all.
Suitable for: all skin types unless you are sensitive to essential oils
If you have extra money to spare, do check out this cleanser. Otherwise, there are a bunch of other cleansers out in the market with the same efficacy at a lesser price.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel
Well, that is a bit of a far fetched comparison, as the Oskia Renaissance Gel is a Gel to Oil cleanser, which the Murad Vitamin C Cleanser isn´t, that one is pretty much a straightforward gel. But while they aren´t twins, they might be sisters, the Oskia one more suited for dry skins and the Murad version more suited to combination oily skins.
They share the combination of Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate and Ascorbyl Palmitate for their antioxidant properties, but the Oskia Renaissance Gel has an enzymatic peel component that might make it too much for daily use if you have sensitive skin.
While both are the same price, the Murad Essential-C Cleanser contains almost double the amount of product, making it the cheaper alternative.
My Experience With Murad Essential
Murad clarifying cleanser comes housed in a transparent squeez-y tube. The name of the brand and product name are printed on the front of the tube and the rest of the details are printed at the back of the tube.
Out of the 4 cleansers that I picked up from Murad, this is the most-used one and honestly, there is nothing to brag about, this did clean up quite the normal way.
The consistency of this cleanser is gel like, which lathers up quite well. This cleanser claims to add hydration, but instead, it makes my skin dry and I have to follow up with a good moisturizer to add lots of hydration so that my skin feels normal.
I prefer double cleansing mechanism I use Murad cleanser first and then Emma Hardie moringa cleansing balm. There is kind of a vitamin C scent to the cleanser and it lingers on even after you rinse off your face. This way, my skin looks refreshed and awake. You need a very less quantity of Murad clarifying cleanser each time and since it does not irritate or cause redness, it makes it perfect for people with sensitive skin.

What Ingredients Are In Murad Products
According to the company, Murad products use clinicalstrength ingredients and the formulas are a mix of naturally derived extracts and lab created ones.
Murad products rely on the power of antioxidants, which includes green tea, pomegranates and vitamin C. These ingredients are thought to protect the skin against the environmental free radicals and they may have anti-inflammatory properties. Mushroom peptides work to fight the visible signs of aging and improve elasticity and skin resilience. Other ingredients include yam extract and the marrubium plant, which is thought to boost skins own natural detoxification and defense system.
The acne line relies on salicylic acid, as well as glycolic acid. Both are exfoliators that works by dissolving dead skin cells to reveal fresher looking skin. Salicylic acid also helps to quickly treat acne breakouts. Hydrating products rely on ingredients such as barley, sunflower and cucumber extracts along with olive fruit oil, a fatty acid that is deeply nourishing. The Vitamin C Cleanser is suitable both for mornings and night. You can take it around the eyes without stinging or irritation, but it is not the best at removing face makeup.
Massaging it into damp skin will create more lather, but the wash works just as well when applied to dry skin. You don´t need a flannel to remove it, it rinses clear, leaving my skin feeling clean, yet hydrated.
I prefer it as my morning cleanse, where the bright colours and fresh scent help in waking me up.

Gentle surfactants, antioxidants, humectants as well as some ingredients aimed at more oily skin, this is a lovely, lightweight gel cleanser. The added citrus essential oils might not ne for everyone, but I enjoy the fresh and slightly zingy scent they offer. Though marketed as Vitamin C cleanser, it is worth noting that it contains Ascorbyl Palmitate instead of Ascorbic Acid, an ester that is less irritating, but also less potent.

The idea behind Murad Essential-C is to give consumers a skin care option that delivers powerful antioxidants, as well as some effective UV protection.
Interestingly, although the name of this Murad label seems to suggest vitamin C as the cornerstone ingredient, vitamin C doesnt actually seem to play a pivotal role in the collection. For example, Murad doesnt tout the benefits of vitamin C for skin care .
Further, although this nutrient appears in some of the products in the form of ascorbic acid, it doesnt seem to be formulated into all of them.
