Sunday Riley Blue Moon
I wrote about the Sunday Riley Blue Moon Clean-Rinse Cleansing Balm back in my brand review of Sunday Riley, and my overall impression is a good one. The first thing to talk about with Blue Moon is the wonderful color and scent, which come primarily from the blue tansy oil in Blue Moon . I find Blue Moon to be a really effective cleanser as well, and true to its name, it rinses remarkably clean.
The texture of Blue Moon is a little weird, but not unpleasant. Mostly its a soft, easily meltable, not too waxy balm with a really pleasant feel, but it also has a few little grains of sugar in it. Im honestly not sure why, but I dont find it especially problematic either: the sugar grains are not especially dense in the balm, and they seem to melt pretty quickly once applied to the face .
Overall, the experience of cleansing with Sunday Riley Blue Moon is really luxurious: the blue color, the slightly herbaceous, slightly floral blue tansy scent, the lovely way it melts between your hands all make for a really lovely cleansing experience. Like Green Clean, it does feature some essential oils that contribute to the pleasant scent, but Im not terribly worried about it, unless youre especially sensitive to essential oils. Is it enough to justify its $50 price tag? Maybe if you have a little bit of money to splurge on a cleansing balm, Id say go for it.

This is the ultimate indulgence, and while its undoubtedly expensive, its a very good cleansing balm, wed go as far as to say its the best weve ever tried. Were very impressed and left unsurprised that Hirons is such a huge fan.
It removes a full face of make-up swiftly and efficiently, and has a gorgeous buttery-soft texture.
If you do have the budget, its a beautifully soft formula thats a joy to use, so if youre looking to splurge and treat yourself, this is the perfect present.
Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel
A water-based cleanser always follows oil cleansing, and in this case, its the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel. You only need a pea-sized amount to wash away the water-based impurities, like dirt and sweat, from your whole face.
Cho ensured that the floral-scented cleansing gel has a pH of 6, so your skin wont feel tight and dry after using it, like many cleansers with a higher pH level tend to do. To apply this product, I scoop it out with the included blue spatulathe brand recommends a dime-sized amount, but I usually opt for a scoop thats slightly larger than a quarterand apply it to my face. As I massage it into my skin, it melts into a luxurious-feeling oil. Ive tried other cleansing balms where you really have to work to soften the product into your skin, but this one melts on contact. Honestly, this balm could take me out on a date, shower me with compliments, then ghost meand Id still sing its praises. Im that obsessed.

Eve Lom Cleanser : This beloved balm cleanser is another favorite of mine. Then I Met Yous version is a lot lighter-feeling than this one, though, and its smell is much less intense. Plus, because Eve Loms version retails for $68, Then I Met Yous version is much more affordable.
Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original : The texture of this hypoallergenic cleansing balm is similar to Then I Met Yous version, although retails for significantly less. However, I think the higher-quality and naturally sourced ingredients in Then I Met Yous version make it worth the price.
Then I Met Yous Living Cleansing Balm is the perfect cleansing balm if you prefer a light, buttery texture that melts into an oil and doesnt require a cloth to remove. Double cleansing is a cleansing method where you first use an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, and excess oils, followed by a water-based cleanser to remove any remaining residue on your face . It is increasingly popular, and for good reason. Based on the principle of like dissolves like, the oil cleanser is able to easily remove stuff that a regular cleanser might have trouble with: waterproof eye makeup or sunscreen, or excess oil if you have especially oily skin. Following an oil-based cleanser with a regular cleanser ensures that none of the oil remains to clog your pores afterwards.
I can personally vouch for both the effectiveness and the aesthetic appeal of a double cleanse: since I started taking skincare seriously, the double cleanse in the evening has been the most unwavering part of my routine. A good oil-based cleanser will blast through makeup so much more effectively than regular cleansers or even most makeup-removing wipes, and its just really aesthetically satisfying besides.
Most oil-based cleansers also contain emulsifiers this means that once you add water to the mix, the oil-based cleanser transforms into a sort of milky substance that then rinses or wipes more or less clean. My favorite oil cleansers do actually rinse pretty clean afterwards .
The Results: Instantly Clean Skin
This cleansing balm yields instant results. Namely, it removes makeup and leaves my skin feeling clean. Other cleansing balms require you to remove with a muslin cloth or follow with another cleanser. Then I Met You recommends that you pair the Living Cleansing Balm with the brands Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel, but I find that most of the time, my skin feels clean already without having to double-cleanse.
Another thing I love about this cleansing balm: Ive tried so many similar products, and almost all of them leave a thin film of oil behindbut not this one.
Overall, it makes arguably the most boring part of my skincare routine the one I look forward to the most.
